Are there any fees for Ramune Insurance Concierge other than the insurance premium?

No, there are no fees other than the insurance premium. The premium is the same as if you purchased directly online from Nisshin Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. We operate as an insurance agency and our service is structured to receive a commission from our partner, Nisshin Fire & Marine, for our services.

What would happen if Ramune Insurance Concierge were to discontinue its services?

In the unlikely event that Ramune Insurance Concierge discontinues its services, you would no longer receive customer support from us. However, your insurance policy with Nisshin Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. would remain active, and their customer support would continue to be available as before. There would be no impact on your contracted coverage, so please rest assured.

How much coverage should I get for my household goods?
A

We recommend setting the coverage amount to the total value required to repurchase all of your current household goods (excluding items not covered by the policy). For example, if you live alone, 1 million yen in coverage may be sufficient. Please consider factors such as the total cost of replacing your belongings if you were to move and set an amount that would cover the expenses needed to re-establish your household.

When signing a rental agreement, can I choose my own fire insurance policy instead of the one designated by the real estate agency?

You are not necessarily obligated to enroll in the fire insurance policy designated by the real estate agency. The primary concern for real estate agencies and landlords is ensuring there is coverage for damage to the rented property in case of incidents like a fire. "Oheya wo Kariru Toki no Hoken" (Insurance for Renters) provides up to 20 million yen for tenant liability coverage and up to 3 million yen for repair costs, which includes the necessary protections for tenants. Explaining this should help the real estate agency understand. If the real estate agency requests a copy of your insurance policy, please provide the certificate of enrollment that will be sent to you after you sign up.

If a fire starts in my apartment due to my negligence and the entire apartment building burns down, will the liability for damages be covered?
A

Damage to the specific dwelling unit (your apartment) that you are leasing from the landlord is covered by tenant liability insurance. For damage to parts of the building other than your rented dwelling unit and common areas, under the "Act on Liability for Fire Caused by Negligence" (失火ノ責任ニ関スル法律), you are generally not held liable in cases of slight negligence. However, if there is gross negligence on the part of the tenant who started the fire, they will be held liable for damages. Such cases would be covered by tenant liability insurance.
